This one little thing that is imprinted in us can overthrow the best of intentions and distort our perception of who we really are and where we came from. We are afraid of failing, of dying, of financial difficulties, of losing something or someone, of certain animals and insects, of certain people. We fear a higher power’s judgement. We destroy our own acceptance by seeking it from other people because we are afraid of their judgment.

We all, at some point in our lives, have experienced fear. How many of us can let it go?

For example, if someone is afraid of a spider. I am not talking about an uncomfortable feeling when they see one or get close to it, I am talking about a debilitating fear that changes the person. Will this person hold onto this fear the rest of their lives or seek out ways to overcome this fear?

If we search for the opposite of fear, we come across things such as faith, happiness, love and even courage. These things do not really counterbalance fear. Let us look at and sum up their descriptions according to Dictionary.com

Faith – belief that is not based on proof.

Happiness(happy) – characterized by or indicative of pleasure, contentment, or joy.

Love – a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child or friend.

Courage – the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc. Without fear.

None of these seem to aptly describe the opposite of fear. We also know that a fear can turn into a phobia (an irrational fear). So, in a dualistic reality, where does this fear come from?  It does seem to exist, because we have experienced it and everyone knows someone who lives in such a state.

When we walk in a state of total acceptance then fear will have no hold on us. We will be aware of the presence of things that may cause this fear to surface, but we will not fear them. We are beings created from love, the only important thing to remember is the flow of love in an ever-changing world. If we love the fear, the fear will disappear.

May we start questioning ourselves and this fear that we hold onto.
